Sweden Rail Harbour Cruise: Bringing Rail Leaders Together in Melbourne

With the support of the Swedish Embassy in Canberra, the Sweden Rail initiative was launched in Australia in November 2017. The objective for this informal network is to create more business opportunities and impact by joining forces. We believe this can be achieved through an informal and flexible network which arrange a few strategic initiatives per year going forward and by leveraging the brand of Sweden in conjunction with our longstanding expertise in the Railway industry. We have run 1-2 events per years since the inception in 2017.

A special thank you to the Embassy of Sweden in Canberra and the Swedish Australian Chamber of Commerce, and Business Sweden for your continued support, and to the Ambassador of Sweden to Australia, H.E. Klas Molin, for the excellent welcome address.

Behind the scenes, I was fortunate to have excellent support from Mark Foster and Johanna Lindholm, and during the event itself from Linda Sjöström and Valentina Ahlmark, who all helped ensure our guests enjoyed a superb experience onboard the Victoria Star.

Looking ahead to 2026, we plan to host after-work catch-ups in Sydney (February–March) and Melbourne (September–October) (dates to be confirmed), providing opportunities to come together to share recent wins, key contacts, and new business opportunities. We will also host a networking event at AusRail in Brisbane in late November.
