Sweden at IMARC 2025 – Driving the Future of Sustainable Mining
This week, 21–23 October at ICC Sydney, Sweden made a significant mark at IMARC, the world’s leading mining and resources conference.
For the first time, a Swedish Pavilion was featured under the banner of Business Sweden and the Embassy of Sweden in Canberra, Team Sweden, showcasing world-leading Swedish technologies in sustainable, electrified, and digitalised mining – including automation, 5G networks, advanced sensors, and heavy-equipment electrification.
A record number of Swedish companies participated in IMARC 2025, including Volvo Group Australia, Sandvik, Ericsson, ReVibe Energy, Scania Group, Epiroc, Hexagon Mining, SKF Group, BROKK, and IFS.
The Sweden Session, moderated by Katie Hulmes (BHP), opened with remarks from H.E. Klas Molin, Ambassador of Sweden to Australia, and a keynote by Diana Janse, Sweden’s State Secretary for International Trade. Both emphasised Sweden’s commitment to sustainable, high-performance mining and collaboration within Australia’s critical minerals strategy.
The session featured presentations by Scania Group, Ericsson, Sandvik & Glencore, Volvo Group Australia and ReVibe Energy.

Scania Group – Damien Williams, Head of Autonomous Operations, highlighted how real progress happens when Swedish innovation meets Australian ingenuity, creating practical, fit-for-purpose solutions for the mining sector.
Ericsson – Ian Ross, Head of Enterprise Private Networks ANZ, demonstrated how 5G connectivity is improving safety, productivity, and efficiency in mining through smarter, data-driven operations.
Sandvik & Glencore Australia – Andrew Dawson and Nicholas Pascoe presented an Australian-first automation initiative at George Fisher Mine — an underground automated trucking fleet powered by AutoMine, setting new benchmarks for safety and productivity.
Volvo Group Australia – Tim Camilleri, Director of E-Mobility Solutions, shared Volvo’s vision for mining solutions that are 100% safe, 100% fossil-free, and 100% more productive, underlining the importance of collaboration to accelerate sustainable transformation.
ReVibe Energy – Tomas Gabinus, CEO, showcased ReVibe’s rugged sensor technology for mining environments, providing vital machine health data that reduces downtime, optimises maintenance, and extends equipment lifespan.
The session reflected the strength of Swedish–Australian partnerships in advancing electrification, automation, and digitalisation — all key to shaping a more sustainable mining future.
With over 9,000 attendees, delegations from 120+ countries, and ministerial representation from five continents, IMARC 2025 was a truly global platform – and a great success for Sweden, strengthening its position as a trusted leader and partner in sustainable mining innovation.
