Summary: Team Sweden & TIQ Briefing – Brisbane 2032 Opportunities
Team Sweden (Business Sweden, The Embassy of Sweden and the Swedish Australian Chamber of Commerce) and Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) briefing brought together Swedish companies, government representatives and key stakeholders to explore business and collaboration opportunities linked to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The session opened with remarks from representatives of the TIQ, the Embassy of Sweden, Business Sweden and the Swedish Australian Chamber of Commerce (SACC), setting the strategic context for strengthened Australia–Sweden relations and highlighting the significant trade and investment opportunities associated with the Games.
A company presentation session followed, where leading Swedish-affiliated companies – including ASSA ABLOY, Axis Communications, Dellner Couplers, Ericsson, Saab, Securitas, Tenstar Simulation, and Volvo Group Australia – presented their capabilities and interest in contributing to Brisbane 2032 across areas such as security, connectivity, transport, and infrastructure.
Government stakeholders from Queensland and Brisbane provided insights into the broader economic development agenda, including market entry pathways, investment priorities, and the role of the Games in driving long-term infrastructure and city development. Presentations also outlined the planning and delivery of Games infrastructure, including venues, villages, and integrated transport systems.
A key focus of the session was procurement and supply chain opportunities, with the Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee introducing the ICN Gateway and outlining pathways for companies to engage in upcoming procurement processes.
The program also included industry roundtable discussions, bringing together public and private sector leaders to explore practical opportunities and challenges.
The event concluded with a Team Sweden wrap-up, reinforcing the importance of continued collaboration, early engagement, and coordinated efforts to maximise opportunities for Swedish companies in the lead-up to Brisbane 2032.
