SACC Melbourne After Work 26 Nov 2025: Connecting Industry and Academia Around Smart City Technologies

On 26 November the Melbourne Chapter of the Swedish Australian Chamber of Commerce (SACC) organised a visit to the University of Melbourne’s Digital Lab at Melbourne Connect for an exclusive evening exploring next-generation technologies that are driving the future of Smart Buildings and Smart Cities. More than 20 participants attended, including students, academics, industry experts and SACC member company representatives.

Dr Davood Shojaei, Manager of the Digital Lab, led participants through immersive demonstrations of Digital Twin, Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Internet of Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications. These innovations showcased how advanced digital tools are shaping smart cities and transforming industries. Attendees were also fortunate to hear from Milad Mostowfivala (Senior Product Manager, Smart Power & Digital Solutions, ABB Electrification) from the Swiss-Swedish global technology company ABB, who provided some insights into how the technologies that were showcased are being used in Smart Buildings and Smart Cities. Following the interactive tour, attendees enjoyed networking drinks at the nearby Prince Patrick on nearby Grattan St, continuing on the discussions on technology and innovation.
