Swedish Artists Join Moorambilla Voices at the Sydney Opera House
Saturday 3 October 2026 | 7:00pm | Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House
SACC is pleased to highlight a special Swedish–Australian cultural collaboration as Swedish-based artist Anna Kråik Åström and her trio KrÅiK, featuring saxophonist Jens Comén and guitarist Jonas Ehnroth, join Moorambilla Voices for its 21st Anniversary Gala at the Sydney Opera House.
The collaboration brings Southern Sámi yoik together with the voices, rhythms and stories of regional NSW. Blending traditional yoik with jazz, folk and improvisation, the Swedish artists are working with Moorambilla’s young performers on a newly commissioned work exploring Country, nature and the night sky, guided by Sámi and First Nations artists and knowledge holders.
More than 400 young performers from 81 regional and remote NSW communities will take to the Concert Hall stage for Moorambilla Voices 21 Years: The Power of Possibilities. The gala will feature new compositions, dance, Taiko drumming and visual storytelling inspired by the landscapes, languages and cultures of regional NSW.
Founded in 2006 by Michelle Leonard OAM, Moorambilla Voices has worked with more than 58,000 young people across 140 schools, creating opportunities for regional and remote young people to engage with leading artists and perform original Australian works.
Join us for an inspiring celebration of cross-cultural collaboration, creativity and 21 years of Moorambilla Voices.

ABOUT KrÅiK
KrÅiK is a trio consisting of Anna Kråik (joik, drum), Jens Comén (saxophone, loops, percussion) and Jonas Ehnroth (guitar, loops, effects). The group roams the borderlands between traditional Sámi joik, jazz and improvisational music, with a sound that is both contemporary and rooted in indigenous heritage. At the heart of KrÅiK’s music is Anna’s joik, which can be raw, beautiful, tender and incredibly powerful. A voice with roots deeply intertwined with Sami culture. Around Anna’s joik, Jens and Jonas create open soundscapes with room for improvisation and playfulness. Together, the trio creates a responsive interplay characterised by an experimental approach where the music flows organically. Through the Sami storytelling tradition, the music reflects on questions of identity, nature, spirituality, social change and existence from both personal and universal perspectives.
Anna Kråik
Anna Kråik is a Southern Sami yoiker, singer and cultural ambassador with extensive experience of performing, teaching and cultural development. Her music has its roots in the Southern Sami yoik tradition and is characterised by a personal style in which tradition meets contemporary influences from jazz and folk music. As a member of the trio KrÅiK, she creates, together with her fellow musicians, a unique musical landscape where the narrative power of joik takes centre stage. Anna has performed at concerts, festivals and cultural events throughout the Nordic countries and has participated in several musical collaborations with prominent Sámi and Nordic musicians. In addition to her artistic work, she leads courses in joik and Sami music and works to promote knowledge of Sami culture, language and identity through education, lectures and cultural projects.
Jens Comén
Swedish saxophonist Jens Comén has spent decades exploring the intersections of folk music, jazz, rock, and improvisation. Since co-founding the influential folk-rock band Hoven Droven in 1991, he has performed extensively throughout Europe, North America, and beyond, helping to shape the contemporary Scandinavian folk music scene. Alongside his work with Hoven Droven, Comén has collaborated in a wide range of projects spanning traditional music, jazz, theatre, dance, and film. His artistic voice is rooted in improvisation and a deep curiosity about musical encounters across genres and traditions. In his current collaboration with Anna and Jonas, years of musical experience come together in an open and intuitive dialogue where tradition, creativity, and spontaneity meet. KrÅiK’s music is driven by freedom, joy, and the pleasure of shared musical exploration.
Jonas Ehnroth
Jonas Ehnroth is a Swedish guitarist, composer and educater active in jazz and improvised music. A graduate of the NTNU Jazz Programme in Trondheim, he has released the albums Solitude, Trails, Nyhavna Vol. 1 and Nyhavna Vol.2. Alongside his work as a performer and a bandleader, he teaches jazz guitar, ear training and ensemble courses at the jazz programme at Birka Folk High School.
