A Warm Welcome to H.E. Klas Molin, Sweden’s New Ambassador to Australia and New Zealand

 Sweden’s new Ambassador to Australia and New Zealand, Klas Molin, has officially begun his tenure, having recently presented his credentials to H.E. the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of Australia, and The Rt Hon Dame Cindy Kiro, Governor-General of Aotearoa New Zealand.

 

Ambassador Molin has extensive experience from the Asia-Pacific region, having been Ambassador to the Republic of India from 2017-2022 and to the Kingdom of Thailand from 2011-2015 while also accredited to several other countries in South and South-East Asia.

Between 2006-2011, Ambassador Molin was Head of the Department for Asia and the Pacific in Sweden’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Prior to his current posting, he was Director-General in the MFA for Administrative Affairs and Management. Earlier foreign postings include Bangkok, New York and Washington D.C.

Ambassador Molin is especially proud to see Swedish companies contributing to Australia’s efforts to boost productivity, sustainability, and economic resilience. He looks forward to connecting with the Swedish and business community across Australia and New Zealand, and to working closely with them to deepen trade, investment, and cultural ties.

Klas Molin hails from Stockholm, Sweden and has a partner and three sons and a grandson, with whom he greatly enjoys sports and the outdoors.
