Online event 25 Feb on the Australian Federal Election 2025: Major Parties Influence, Minor Parties Impact & Possible Outcomes

Join us for this online event on the Australian Federal Election 2025.

Shannon Walker, Managing Director in Strategic Communications at FTI Consulting, will deliver a presentation on the upcoming Federal Election (due by 17th May), what we’ll likely see from the major parties, the impacts of minor parties and independents, and possible election outcomes. Shannon will speak about the issues surrounding the election, including cost-of-living, demographic changes and how it all fits together.

The discussion and Q&A will be led by Penny George, Corporate Affairs Director at AstraZeneca and Vice President of the Swedish Australian Chamber of Commerce.

Attendees will gain:

  • A good understanding of the issues and demographic changes influencing the upcoming election
  • The likely potential outcomes of the election and what that will mean for clients trying to influence the next government
  • The ability to sound like they know what they are talking about when asked about the election

About the speakers

Shannon Walker, Managing Director, Strategic Communications

Shannon has over 20 years’ experience in political and activist campaigning, public affairs and crisis and issues management. He is a trusted advisor, helping clients navigate the intersections of business, politics and activism.

He’s held media advisor roles for senior Federal Labor politicians including the Minister for Finance, the Minister for Workplace Relations and the Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Superannuation and Financial Services in the Australian Government. Penny George, Director of Corporate Affairs AstraZeneca Australia and New Zealand

In this role, Penny is responsible for the patient advocacy, communications and government affairs functions. As a person living with Type 1 Diabetes, Penny understands the importance of access to medicines and vaccines in order to live a healthy and productive life.Penny joined AstraZeneca in March 2022 following a decade of advocating for fast access to medicines and vaccines at Sanofi. Prior to her time in industry, Penny worked for a decade in politics serving as a Ministerial adviser in the NSW O’Farrell Government, political campaigns and was an elected Local Government Councillor. Penny holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) and Bachelor of Arts (Communications) from the University of Wollongong. LinkedIn: Penny George
