Volvo Group Australia – Factory Visit 20 March 2025

20 March, 2025

Volvo Group Australia recently hosted a successful event at their Wacol manufacturing facility in Queensland, with 30 members of the SACC community in attendance.

The morning provided invaluable time to network and make new connections. Attendees were welcomed by SACC President Jan Gardberg, and Volvo Group Australia’s President & CEO Martin Merrick, who shared insights on the company’s history, values, and global operations. Vice President of Public Affairs, Shylie Mackenzie, also provided an overview of the Volvo Group’s brands, net zero ambitions, and manufacturing operations.

The event included a thought-provoking Q&A session, to discuss key topics including local manufacturing, supply chains, sustainability, and the future of electromobility and new technologies.

A highlight of the day was a factory tour, where attendees had the opportunity to see the trucks being built and learn about the various configurations and customisations that go into creating Australian Made Volvo and Mack Trucks.

It was an informative event, for SACC members to learn about VGA and for enriching discussion on the complexity of manufacturing and supply chains, and the strategies and opportunities for future decarbonisation.
