The Rise of Agentic AI: What Ericsson’s Latest Research Reveals

18 September, 2026

AI is moving from reactive to agentic

Ericsson has just released its latest ConsumerLab report, “An agentic life,” exploring how AI is evolving from reactive tools to more autonomous, agentic experiences.

Based on research with more than 43,000 smartphone users across 27 markets, including Australia, the report finds that 38% of consumers expect to use agentic AI by 2030.

In Australia, multimodal AI adoption is expected to rise from 6% today to 23% by 2030, almost a fourfold increase. The findings highlight important implications for how people interact with technology and the connectivity needed to support these emerging experiences. Find out more: AI usage report: ConsumerLab on agentic AI – Ericsson.
