Sustainability Committee Update: Parliamentary Briefing & Industry Dialogue in Canberra

9 July, 2026

The SACC Sustainability Committee is pleased to announce plans for a Parliamentary Briefing and Industry Dialogue to be held at Parliament House, Canberra, on Monday, 14 September 2026.

Developed in partnership with the Embassy of Sweden in Canberra, this initiative forms a key part of the Committee’s 2026 strategic priorities and aims to strengthen collaboration between Swedish-affiliated businesses, policymakers and industry leaders while contributing to Australia’s sustainability agenda.

The morning parliamentary forum will bring together representatives from Swedish-affiliated companies, parliamentarians, government officials and industry stakeholders to discuss some of Australia’s most pressing sustainability and industry transformation challenges. The program will feature expert presentations and facilitated discussions focusing on three priority areas:

  • Circularity and waste infrastructure – addressing regional recycling challenges and advancing product stewardship.
  • Decarbonisation and the energy transition – including grid development, planning processes and policy consistency across Australia.
  • Electrification and EV fleets – supporting the transition to low-emission transport solutions.

The event will provide participants with a unique opportunity to engage directly with ministers, shadow ministers, parliamentarians and senior policymakers, ensuring that industry perspectives help inform national policy discussions.

Following the parliamentary briefing, participants will be invited to attend a Nordic Climate Collaboration event, bringing together representatives from government, industry and the Nordic business community to exchange ideas on sustainability, innovation and climate solutions. The day will conclude with an Embassy of Sweden reception and dinner, offering further opportunities to network with key decision-makers and business leaders.

SACC members interested in participating are invited to submit an Expression of Interest by Wednesday, 15 July 2026. Responses will help shape the final program, discussion topics and participating organisations.

This Canberra engagement represents an important opportunity to strengthen the voice of Swedish-affiliated businesses in Australia, contribute to policy discussions and showcase Swedish expertise in sustainability, innovation and the green transition.
