Building Momentum in 2026: Strengthening Partnerships and Unlocking Opportunities
It has been a dynamic start to the year for the Swedish Australian Chamber of Commerce, with strong engagement across our network and several key initiatives delivered.
A major highlight for the industry last week was the signing of the Australia–EU Free Trade Agreement, a historic step that opens new opportunities for trade, investment, and collaboration between Europe and Australia. For the Swedish–Australian business community, this creates a strong platform for growth across sectors including clean energy, critical minerals, advanced manufacturing, services and technology.
In February, together with Team Sweden, we distributed the Business Climate Survey to company representatives across Australia. The survey captures valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges faced by Swedish companies operating in the market, with the launch of the 2026 results planned for late May.
We celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Nordic Open Golf Day in Sydney on 6 March, bringing together the Nordic and Australian business community for a memorable day on the green and networking. Building on this success, we are excited to introduce the first Nordic Open Golf Day in Melbourne on 8 May 2026.
The SACC has continued to bring members together through recent events, including the Executive Forum and Networking Event 25 March in Sydney, and ongoing networking across our chapters. Looking ahead, a key initiative for 2026 is the Sustainability Committee’s Parliamentary engagement in Canberra, planned for September. This will focus on targeted policy dialogue around circularity, decarbonisation and electrification, followed by a showcase at Parliament House to engage with MPs and stakeholders.
