Dear Members and Friends,
As 2024 draws to a close, we reflect on a year of growth, collaboration and shared achievements. Over 50 events were held across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, featuring highlights like the Nordic Open Golf Day, SACC Executive Forum and business discussions on AI, cross-cultural leadership, and the circular economy. The year culminated with the SACC 2024 Swedish Business in Australia Awards & Christmas Dinner, co-hosted by the Embassy of Sweden - a memorable celebration of excellence. None of this would have been possible without the invaluable support of our members and the dedication of our committees, who have worked tirelessly to deliver engaging speakers, relevant topics and smooth event execution.
Guided by our four strategic pillars — collaboration, member engagement, growth and financial stability — we strengthened ties with fellow chambers, enhanced member engagement, and advanced Team Sweden initiatives at the Swedish Chamber International meeting in Stockholm. This forum also presented the Global Business Climate Survey, offering insights into future opportunities.
While we saw positive growth in premium and corporate memberships, we’re addressing a decline in small business and professional segments with fresh strategies for 2025. Our Young Professionals chapter also welcomed new leadership, with plans to drive greater engagement in the year ahead.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our members for your invaluable contributions to the Chamber. I also wish to thank our Board Directors and Chapter Board Members for dedicating your time and expertise to our cause. Your unwavering support, sponsorship and active engagement are vital in forging strong business connections and enhancing our relevance, ultimately delivering great value to our members.
Special thanks go to the Ambassador of Sweden to Australia, His Excellency Pontus Melander and the Swedish Embassy team for their unwavering support of SACC and Team Sweden. My gratitude also goes to Niclas Westling, for web and tech support, Liv Berg, our Honorary Solicitor, the team at Grant Thornton, our Honorary Auditors, and Martin Ekberg, Trade Commissioner, Business Sweden, for their collaboration and support.
On behalf of the Chamber, I would also like to acknowledge parting Board Director, Teresia Fors, for her extraordinary contributions over more than a decade. Teresia has been pivotal in shaping and expanding the SACC to its current stature. We wish her all the best in her new role and her return to Sweden. Finally, a big thank you to our General Manager, Camilla Jennings, for her outstanding planning and management of SACC’s activities. Her positive energy and professionalism have been instrumental to our success.
Thank you all for your dedication and commitment during this inspiring year. We look forward to an even more impactful 2025!
God Jul och Gott Nytt År!
Best wishes,
Jan Gardberg, President, Swedish Australian Chamber of Commerce |
