The SACC Young Professionals are expanding

The Young Professionals are excited to announce we have voted in new committee members for 2021. As new members begin their time with the committee we would like to extend a gracious thank you to the outgoing committee members, Felicia Wickbom and Julia Bergling, for their time and considerable efforts.

Expanding our YP Melbourne committee with newly appointed members John Johansson (Manager, Compliance, ASX) and Helen Andersson (M&A Valuations Analyst, Deloitte) join Anna Karlstrom (Strategic Executive Consulting) who continues to lead YP Melbourne.

In Sydney, Tove Rosengren (Business Student) replaces departing committee members and is a welcome addition to the team consisting of Simon Skoog (Regional Restaurant Onboarding Lead ANZ, UberEats), Felicia Pettersson (Founder and Creative Director, Venaii Creative & Co.) and Paulina Sahlstedt (Marketing Manager, Progenesis). Therese Nitenius (Diversity & Inclusion Consultant, IPA), remains as Committee Chair, responsible for providing overall leadership and direction to deliver on YP’s vision. 

To the new members, on behalf of the Swedish Australian Chamber of Commerce and Young Professionals, we extend a warm welcome and look forward to each of your unique talents all focusing on making a valuable difference for our members.

Ambassador of Sweden to Australia, HE Henrik Cederin, visit to Perth WA April 2021

SACC Perth WA has the honour of hosting HE Henrik Cederin, Ambassador of Sweden to Australia, on his visit to Perth mid April 2021.

During these days we have arranged a program that will be partly open for SACC members.

We are very proud that the Swedish footprint in the mining space in Western Australia is so significant in a time where mining here is going towards a new boom era. We will have the opportunity to meet up with some of the largest Swedish companies in the field for an interesting update.

 

 

WA Mining Event 21 April

Finally an in person event with great content!

We will meet at one of Perth’s highest rooftop venues at Grant Thornton where Ambassador, Henrik Cederin with be our guest of honour. Sandvik will be presenting the latest with a focus on sustainability in mining and Grant Thornton will share their perspective on what they refer to as the ‘Mining Boom 3.0′ and “Being smarter not necessarily bigger’.

Onsite visit to SACC Premium Member Epiroc and Roy Hill “Mining more exciting than ever before”

Mining is moving fast from an industry that used to be dirty and at times slow on uptake of new technologies being at the absolute forefront of technical development and changes are happening fast.

We will visit SACC Premium Member Epiroc’s Australia headquarters great facilities in Perth together with the Ambassador followed by a visit to one of their biggest customers Roy Hill who will showcase their remote operations centre.

Webinar Summary

On 18 March SACC YP organised an online workshop based on AI Center’s internationally popular 6-week course AI4nonAIs. This unique and SACC-exclusive, interactive online workshop was led by Reza Moussavi, Director-General of AI Center, Sweden, the first part of the session covered the following subjects:

  • What is AI
  • History and origin of AI
  • Contemporary rise of AI
  • AI vs Human
  • AI vs Jobs
  • Human-Centered AI

In the second part, a small assignment was given which gave participants an opportunity to try out they learnt.

Takeaways were:

  • Understanding what is, and what is NOT AI, and why that matters
  • How AI is helping and not hurting the industries and people
  • Finding out how, and where, to learn more

 

Reza Moussavi

Reza is an intelligence analyst and tech innovator who has been selected as the top 10 innovators of Europe at Innovact Award in 2011, France. He is a software engineer and Director-general of the AI Center in Sweden. He is a member of the European AI Alliance, and also an elected director of the Free Society Conference and Nordic Summit (FSCONS). Reza has been a business mentor for tech startups at Founder Institute, as well as an industrial mentor, thesis supervisor, and teacher assistant at the University of Gothenburg.

A national champion in our SACC YP network 

The mix of Sweden and Australia has proven to be successful again. Simon Skoog (SACC YP) together with his Australian crew (Nick Reader) has recently won both the NSW Championship and the Australian Championship in the high performing sailing class; Formula 16 catamaran.

They are now preparing for the World Championship in Perth 2022 and they are looking for a sponsor that wants to be part of their journey.
